I cannot stop worrying.
You feel your anxiety is getting out of control; your sleep is disruptive; you feel on edge like something terrible will happen. You look around, and everyone seems to have it all together, but you feel so disconnected from it. Almost numb.
Sometimes, the thoughts of running away are inevitable. Lately, you have been having a hard time concentrating at work; your thoughts keep rushing and replaying past events and conversations.
You feel like a hot mess. It is hard to say no, so you over-commit yourself and cannot meet your deadlines. Your thoughts keep racing, and it is becoming hard to keep them at bay. You fear the worst.
Your body hurts, you suffer from chronic headaches, and your neck feels strained. You can hear your heart pounding; when it gets pretty bad, you may feel panicky, as if you are about to die.
I do not want to get up!
On other days, you are apathetic and don’t even want to get out of bed. You think, “What’s the point?” Those things you cherished and enjoyed are in the past. The spark is gone… life has become dull, all seriousness – no fun.
When your days feel gloomy and blue, you even have fleeting thoughts of ending it all. You even wonder if your family will be better off without you. You cannot rest at night; the negative feelings and thoughts are dreadful, especially when you are alone. You cannot escape them.
Your depression is hurting you even physically, causing you to feel exhausted and achy. You cannot sleep or sleep too much to wake up to the same old routine.
You tire of being with people and want to be by yourself. You cry to fall asleep and feel miserable.
Is there more to life than this?
